the artist

ren zi was drawing before learning to write. his first word was “light”

he grew up on a diet of maurice sendak, ultraman, subtitled chinese, malay, indian melodramas. at aged 4, he opened his 1st art show on the headboard of his parents’ bed. the impoverished collection included a china-made bobo doll & his orange shit pot (very duchamp)

his sense of humour is tempered by sneaky streaks of blue. he has vegetarian tendencies

educated in a mission school, he had his apostasy at 13. he adopted claire tham’s “fascist rock, stories of rebellion” as his bible instead

part otaku, part science geek, he is influenced by the weird & wonderful in nature, technology & pop culture. that his background in psychology allows him to read minds is a blatant fabrication

he weaves stories for brands for a living though art is his real job. against an innate nihilism, he nonetheless lives in hope
